Worth A Million Words

I love these two photos I took the other night of my friend’s daughter before her homecoming dance.

I love the interaction between the two of them, and how they are looking at each other.

I love that these photos tell a story without adding a single word.

Now on to the technical details.  The plan was to photograph two of my friends’ daughters before their homecoming dance down by the pier or by the Bay in the neighborhood.  However, the weather didn’t cooperate, and I set up a mini studio in my living room with off camera flashes.

There were some definite challenges that I need to take into consideration for the future.  When photographing one person, the flashes need to be set up one way, and for group photos, the flashes need to be adjusted, and for someone taller or shorter, they need to be adjusted yet again.  Much more difficult than I thought it would be.

Studio lighting and off camera flash photography is something I definitely need to practice so that in the event that the weather doesn’t cooperate, I have a Plan B.
