27,494 in 824 Events

So, that cryptic title depicts the number of photos I have on my computer within the 824 events, and I have NO problem deleting bad or duplicate photos — bad/duplicate photo = gone.  But, I will admit, I'm not as diligent as I should be.  However, something has to be done.  I have somewhat of an organization system through iphoto.  (For those of you that are new here, I became a Mac girl in August 2009.  I bought my first Mac, and as a photographer, I got the best system I could afford.)  Thankfully, this computer has a HUGE hard drive, like 600G because I am also extremely paranoid about losing my photographic catalog.  I have ALL of my photos on 2 computers (a Windows and a Mac platform as well as an external hard drive).

The bottom line is I need a photo management system.  I read the reviews on Apple's Aperture and Adobe's Lightroom, and the consensus was they both have excellent features, and you can try them out for 30 days for free and decide for yourself.  Aperture is $199, while Lightroom is $299 so the $100 savings is an incentive for me to try Aperture.  I downloaded it today, and will let you know how it goes.

Calling for 2 to 4 inches of snow today, with the bulk of the accumulation farther south.  A good day to stay inside and figure out the great features of Aperture.
