Almost There

This is a photo of me and my sister. Today is her birthday ~ Happy Birthday, Karen. I am the one laying on the floor reading a book. The story behind the photo is — Karen got her feelings hurt (perhaps by a busy Mom trying to get dinner on the table and dealing with 3 other needy kids?) and was crying and came and sat on me for comfort and fell asleep. And, my mother got out the camera and there is the memory. BTW, I am SO loving those red denim jeans, the gold carpet and orange chair and especially the cinder block bookcase in the background 😉 Great memories of home!

Here is a photo of the wainscoting on the backsplash in the kitchen.  Progress on the home project is slow going right now – delays for one reason or another.  Today’s problem is the persistent rain, so the contractor can’t set his saw up outside, a requirement for cutting the wainscoting.  I don’t have a covered porch or garage which would help keep things moving along.  I am hoping to have the wainscoting done this week, as soon as we have a dry day.  Patience is always required during home improvement projects.  It always seems to take longer than you think it will and there are always unforeseen problems that creep up along the way.  The work that has been done is excellent, and I’m really happy with that.  The painter begins today.  The guy I hired works in the evening after his full-time job, usually 4 to 7 p.m.  I am hoping to have everything done by the middle of June.  Then that’s it for this year.  Next year, it’s onto the kitchen!
