Celebrating Mother’s Day (Without Photos)

These are the only two photos I took of Mother's Day.  This was dessert.  Monarch Butterfly cupcakes that I recreated from the very popular Hello Cupcake book.  I thought they turned out rather well.

I went to my Mom's and cooked dinner.  We had sweet baked onion dip, tomato mozzarella tarts, shrimp scampi, garlic bread, salad and cupcakes.  Making dinner for my Mom has become sort of a tradition.  My sister, Karen, came with her two girls since she lives local, and that has also become a tradition.  We all live within an hour and a half of each other, and with everyone's hectic busy schedules, I haven't seen my sister since Christmas.  We couldn't believe how long it had been.

I didn't have much of a chance to take photos, since I was visiting and cooking.  Sometimes, the camera just isn't a priority.  Karen and Mom took some photos of the girls climbing the magnolia tree in Mom's backyard, and I'll have those photos to remember the day.

I'm glad my Mom is still here so that I can honor her on her special day.

My sister and I have made plans to try to get together more often.  I am going to keep her girls for a week over the summer, and am really looking forward to doing fun things with them.

I hope all the Moms out there enjoyed their Mother's Day.
