So, okay, this holiday today is a little bittersweet for me, and always has been.
I have a dog who is TERRIFIED of any type of fireworks, and he is so stressed and panting, which means I want to be home with him so he isn't as terrified and nervous. (This is said dog:)
There are so many things I would have rather been doing today than what I did (which was work — albeit only 4 hours, but it was right smack in the middle of the day):
Boating on the Chesapeake Bay
Watching fireworks from a boat on the Chesapeake Bay
Having a dog that isn't terrified of fireworks and thunderstorms.
But yesterday I was at a great cookout and enjoyed great food and the company of good friends, and awesome fireworks. (I don't know why North Beach always has their fireworks before the 4th and so did Herrington Harbour South this year.)
The moral of this story is you can't have fireworks every day.
