No Guilt Rainy Days

DSC_3373

A lovely dreary rainy day — one in which I will not feel guilty about saying inside and playing in my craft room (which has been sorely neglected lately).  Perhaps I'll tidy up a bit, play around a bit, create something wonderfully inspiring — no pressure — just get lost in the creative process.

There are lots of home maintenance projects I need to get to as well — I'll take advice from Fly Lady — set the timer for 15 minutes and get to it — small increments equals big results.  The stuff I need to get to involves going through mounds of paper work living in plastic storage containers (which I dread going through).  It's been my dumping ground for paid bills that need to be filed and other papers I didn't know what to do with.

There's also an open black and white photography lab at the college from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. — I have all of my photos for assignment 1 except for 1 — the one showing a moving object blurred — the opposite of the moving object in sharp focus.  I chose water — beaded water in sharp focus (bright light, fast shutter speed, hand held camera) and moving water blurred (low light, slow shutter speed, camera mounted on tripod).  I technically did have it — but my film camera door is broken so I duct taped it closed and it worked its way loose so the last 5 photos on that roll that had my moving shots got exposed to light and are no good :-(

I also need to get the photos from Dad's 70th Birthday party cleaned up and uploaded to the Kodak Gallery.  I did upload the photos to the gallery without editing much, but have since decided to go ahead and edit in Photoshop.  (My CS3 shipped today, so I'll have that soon).

Also in drawing class it's getting more difficult, and homework for this week is to draw a chair — a kitchen chair or stool (with legs) — a lot harder than you think — and another large object beside the chair such as a box and five other objects  — focusing on directional lighting, using the eraser a great deal for shadows and shaping objects — maping out the composition with vine charcoal and then moving onto compress charcoal — due October 2nd.  Maybe I don't have as much free time as I think — I'd better get busy!

So it looks like I'll have a busy weekend no matter what I decide to do.  I'm also going to get ready for Ali's Week in the Life class which begins on Monday.  I think that will be fun.  Whatever you do this weekend, have fun, and do something creative.
